Voici le drame en trois actes (1991, 2000, 2014) qui a mené de l’éclatement de l’URSS à la guerre en Ukraine et la ruine de l'Europe. Nous voyons des acteurs mus par des ressorts irrépressibles et entraînés vers un conflit devenu inéluctable. En cette période d’incertitude où l’Europe redécouvre la guerre dans toute son horreur, il est prématuré d’en prédire l’issue : cessez-le-feu, paix honorable, guerre d’attrition, effondrement de l’un des belligérants ? Nous pouvons toutefois déjà entrevoir le monde qui résultera de cette crise : d'une part une Europe réduite à quémander la protection du Pentagone et en passe de sortir de l'Histoire ; d'autre part le reste du monde, soit sept milliards d'humains, divisé entre plusieurs impérialismes (Chine, Russie, Inde, Turquie, Iran...) mais uni dans une commune défiance à l'égard de l'Occident.
