Donald Trump drohe erneut mit „Projekt Freiheit Plus“, falls der Iran nicht an den Verhandlungstisch zurückkehre. Das frühere „Projekt Freiheit“ sollte Frachter schützen, die durch die Straße von Hormus fahren wollten. Zwei Frachter hätten dies genutzt, dann sei das Projekt beendet worden. Aus Islamabad höre Schwarzkopf, dass in der kommenden Woche wieder eine Verhandlungsrunde beginnen könnte. Sie solle nicht auf hohem personellen Niveau laufen, sondern eher über Unterhändler. Die Gespräche könnten sich über Wochen hinziehen. Der Knackpunkt bleibe das Atomprogramm der Iraner. Auch die Kontrolle über die Straße von Hormus wollten sie nicht aufgeben. Schwarzkopf verweist zudem auf einen Bericht von „The Economist“. Danach rüste der Iran wieder auf. Russland biete demnach mindestens 5000 Drohnen und Schulungen an. Ob der Bericht stimme, könne er nicht sagen. Dass der Iran die Zeit zur militärischen Aufrüstung nutze, stehe aus seiner Sicht außer Frage.
