01:22 - This Fight Sucks.
If you're wondering why I'm having to resort to spending the entire phase two from range effectively cheesing it: It's not what I wanted to do, but this is genuinely one of the most unfun fights to do no damage. The first phase is fine, but the shield phase is just completely awful and a mess. You take damage anytime you deal damage to the shield, which for normal fights you just use the Dread Axe to Break it and move on. It would also be fine if the mechanics worked as intended for no damage. You should be able to avoid it by using the blue parry or red dodge attacks to get behind the boss and deal damage, but for some reason the boss can just randomly decide to turn towards you in the middle of the animation and the damage you deal with that attack ends up hitting the shield and causing you damage.
I tried different weapons, different distances, different positions, different timings, different directional inputs, no directional input at all, no movement - it was never consistent. The boss would just randomly decide to it would follow my movement towards me which caused unavoidable damage. Even the detonation from Scarlet Wraithblade would cause you to take damage if you're on the other side of the map. So because of that, I'm stuck with this stupid setup where you're effectively cheesing the boss to break his shield. I could've let the fight play out a bit more after the shield break but I was fed up with this fight and just wanted to be done.
And for some proof, here's some examples of the many, many times it didn't work: https://youtu.be/1FcPly04Xdk
As far as I can see there's another video that the mechanic worked as intended, but I'm baffled as to how. Either I'm the unluckiest person with this fight or they got extremely lucky, or there's something fundamental I'm missing as to how to make it consistent, but I'm done with this stupid boss regardless.

My plans for coverage with Phantom Blade Zero is similar to other games: all bosses, no damage, max difficulty. I'll be posting videos of every boss on Hellwalker difficulty no damage individually, which is the max difficulty you can pick on the first playthrough. There's also the 66 days mode, which is the same difficulty as Hellwalker but with limited wipes. I'll likely go back for a clear of that after my first playthrough. Otherwise if there's any guides or tutorial I can post, I'll be sure to do so.
Phantom Blade Zero is an wuxia action role-playing game developed and published by the Chinese studio S-Game. The player assumes the role of Soul, an elite assassin serving the Order, who is framed for the murder of the Order's patriarch and thus hunted by the Order's members. Inflicted with a fatal wound to his heart and revived with a tainted heart, he is left with only a limited number of days to live. Set in the Phantom World, the story is centered on his mission to restore his heart and unravel the conspiracy that has condemned him.
