Today we’re checking out the first gameplay reveal of THE GOD SLAYER, a new open-world steampunk action RPG from Pathea Games (My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock). In this video you’ll get raw gameplay, a full breakdown and my honest first impressions of this new ARPG coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
In this world, gods known as Celestials use humanity as living Qi batteries. When people finally learn how to turn that Qi into elemental martial arts, the gods wipe an entire kingdom off the map. That’s where our main character Cheng comes in an Elemancer who’s done being cattle and is ready to take down the gods with pure elemental combat.

In this video we’ll look at:
🏙️ The Eastern-inspired steampunk city of Zhou – airships, metal structures, markets, guards and a ton of visual detail.
⚔️ The elemental combat: martial arts mixed with fire, ice, stone walls, environmental interactions and combo potential.
🌍 The promises of an open world with flexible missions – going in loud, sneaking over rooftops, using your powers creatively, even bribing guards or avoiding fights.
🧠 Why the game looks amazing on paper… but I’m still careful about AI behavior, “alternative routes” that might be just side corridors, and whether the world truly reacts to what you do.
🏭 The huge jump in scale for Pathea: from smaller, cozy sims to a 40-hour open-world epic backed by Sony – something that can go incredibly right… or end up feeling half-baked.
I’ll also talk about:
The “rise up against the gods who treat you like cattle” vibe (which always hits if it’s done well – looking at you, Kratos).
How the steampunk + oriental aesthetic makes it stand out from yet another generic medieval fantasy.
My concerns about open-world filler versus meaningful content, and the eternal question mark of Unreal Engine 5 performance on PC and consoles.
If you’re into new ARPGs, elemental combat, steampunk worlds and story-driven RPGs, this one should definitely be on your radar. The God Slayer is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series – still no release date, but we’ll be watching it closely.
