Amid tensions over tariffs, US President Donald Trump said that America has "lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China". He made the comment on Truth Social, just days after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in China's Tianjin. At the summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping stood shoulder to shoulder. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with President Putin. Modi called for an early end to the Ukraine war and stressed the importance of peace. At the same time, India is also engaging with Kyiv. Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, and Ukraine acknowledged that it counts on India's "authoritative voice".
