90 Landings & Takeoffs in 60 Minutes, today with a special Classic planes edition. I am mainly interested in old planes which is the reason why I spent lots of time driving through europe to airports where a special classic plane was expected. Two years ago I finally managed to film a Douglas Dc-8. The Dc-8-72 of Samaritans Purse made an unexpected fuel stop at Stuttgart and I drove almost through entire germany just to film my first Douglas Dc-8. The aircraft is still active in 2024 but they already added a Boeing 757-200 to their fleet. I hope it` s just an addition and the DC-8-72 will flying for much longer. Another famous DC-8 operator, Nasa, removed the Dc-8 from operation earlier this year and the aircraft is now parked in a museum.Another interesting classic plane I filmed was the Vickers VC-10 of the RAF at Brize Norton in 2011. It was one of my first videos and as you see the footage was a bit shaky. If I remember correctly this was the last time I saw (and heard) a VC10. Sadly the aircraft had been removed from service that year. Brize Norton used to be an amazing place, especially when the RAF was training with their L1011 Tristar and VC10.
