Finding the Writing Zone | Riley Yates | TEDxSpokane
Riley invites us to embrace writing. Through his own writing journey, he has lived the trials and triumphs of his characters—discovering strength, resilience, and empathy along the way. In exploring what he calls the “Writing Zone,” he encourages us to begin… and see where the words might lead. Riley Yates is a young Spokane-based author who began writing in eighth grade and hasn’t stopped since. He has self-published three novels and is working on a fourth, which he plans to submit to literary agents. Riley founded a creative writing club at his high school and frequently speaks at local schools about the power of storytelling. He believes everyone carries a story worth sharing and strives to uncover them through conversation and creativity. Outside of writing, he enjoys tennis, pickleball, and playing the bagpipes. Riley is preparing for college with hopes of becoming a full-time author. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
