Insiden tragis ini menewaskan enam orang, 29 orang selamat, dan 30 lainnya masih hilang.
Kapal tenggelam saat berlayar dari Pelabuhan Ketapang, Banyuwangi menuju Pelabuhan Gilimanuk, Bali.
Richo, salah satu kru selamat menceritakan bahwa dirinya terbangun dari tidur karena kapal mendadak miring.
Ia menggambarkan situasi saat itu sangat mencekam karena ombak menghantam kapal dengan keras.
Richo menyebut, saat kapal mulai tenggelam, lampu mati total.
"Kapal miring ke kanan, saya ke kiri supaya bisa selamat. Saat kapal mulai mau tenggelam, lampu mati total, blackout," kata Richo, dikutip dari Kompas.com, Jumat (4/7/2025).
Dalam kondisi panik dan gelap, ia memutuskan melompat ke laut demi menyelamatkan diri.
Richo bersama belasan orang lainnya berhasil menaiki perahu karet penyelamat.
Dugaan awal tenggelamnya KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya disebabkan oleh kebocoran pada ruang mesin yang diperparah oleh cuaca ekstrem dan gelombang tinggi di Selat Bali.
Total ada 65 orang di atas kapal, terdiri dari 53 penumpang dan 12 kru serta 22 kendaraan.
Saat ini proses pencarian masih terus berlangsung dengan melibatkan Basarnas, Satpolairud, hingga TNI.
