Es heißt, man wolle Wirtschaftsvertreter sprechen und mögliche Energiekooperationen ausloten. Zugleich geht es darum, Gesprächskanäle offen zu halten. Alice Weidel äußert sich nicht, da die Reise noch nicht offiziell angemeldet ist. In der Vergangenheit zeigte sie sich kritisch gegenüber solchen Reisen. Fraktionsvize Steffen Keuter sieht politisch nichts, was dagegen spricht, und will die Reise genehmigen. Eine Strafe droht nicht, da die Reise angemeldet werden soll. Der Konflikt über das Verhältnis zu Russland besteht seit Beginn des Ukraine-Krieges. Innerhalb der Fraktion wird er weiter diskutiert.
