Il leader del Movimento 5 Stelle Giuseppe Conte, intervenendo durante la trasmissione Piazzapulita su LA7, ha espresso una posizione netta sull’eventuale coinvolgimento dell’Italia nel conflitto in Iran e sull’uso delle basi militari italiane da parte degli Stati Uniti. Conte ha spiegato che non concederebbe le basi italiane agli Stati Uniti, sottolineando il rischio che una scelta di questo tipo possa esporre il Paese a possibili ritorsioni o minacce terroristiche. «Non mi espongo al rischio terrorismo perché tu fai il gendarme in giro per il mondo», ha affermato, criticando il ruolo internazionale di Washington.
