European Chief Prosecutor: We can seize assets very, very fast
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office may launch its first investigation in Hungary next year, according to what the European Chief Prosecutor told Telex. Laura Kövesi came to Budapest to hold talks with ministers of the Tisza government and representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office about the country’s joining the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Kövesi is a true heavyweight in fighting corruption. Under her leadership, the Romanian Anti-Corruption General Directorate became a true success story: two former prime ministers, dozens of ministers, and a large number of other politicians and mayors were brought to trial. She was elected the first Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2019.
