Su viuda, la actriz Emma Penella, profundamente emocionada, recibió una placa en recuerdo de uno de los más grandes profesionales que nuestro cine ha tenido, placa que le fue entregada por el actor norteamericano Charlton Heston. La noche más larga, inspirada en parte en el libro el año que murió Franco, del periodista Pedro J Ramírez, refleja con dureza a parte de los fusilamientos que tuvieron lugar en nuestro país en septiembre de 1975.
