Già dalle prime ore di questa mattina, 5 maggio, una folla di persone si è riunita davanti alla Basilica di Santa Giustina a Padova per i funerali di Alex Zanardi e stringersi intorno alla famiglia. Amici, conoscenti, colleghi, persone che avevano condiviso Zanardi percorsi lavorativi o imprese sportive, o che semplicemente avevano seguito la sua vita tramite giornali e tv. «Ieri ho parlato con sua mamma per mezz’ora – ha detto il direttore del Corriere dello Sport Ivan Zazzaroni – e ho capito da dove Alex traeva la sua forza. Che eredità lascia? La più grossa è la capacità di far uscire tanti ragazzi con disabilità dalla loro stanza, ha dimostrato che si può avere una vita anche con una disabilità come la sua. Ha fatto tanto per lo sport paralimpico. È andato oltre ogni limite».
