Kenia: Eskalation und Polizeigewalt bei Protesten gegen Steuerreform
In Kenia sind die Proteste gegen eine umstrittene Steuerreform am Dienstag eskaliert. Die Polizei schoss laut der Zeitung „Daily Nation“ in der Hauptstadt Nairobi auf Demonstrierende. Mehrere Menschen wurden demnach getötet. In dem ostafrikanischen Land waren in mehr als 30 Städten Hunderttausende Menschen gegen ein neues Steuergesetz auf die Straße gegangen.Das Gesetz sieht neue Steuern vor, um die Staatskassen aufzubessern, die durch hohe Kredite unter Druck stehen. Bestehende Steuern sollen zudem erhöht werden. Bereits vergangene Woche hatte es gegen das Vorhaben Proteste gegeben.
