Ebola Outbreak: Africa CDC Urges Trump To Lift Travel Ban on Uganda | Firstpost Africa | N18G

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is calling on the United States to end travel restrictions on Uganda following a recent Ebola outbreak. Speaking at an African Union health summit in Accra, Ghana, Africa CDC Director-General Dr. Jean Kaseya argued that blanket travel bans harm economies and disrupt vital emergency supply lines without stopping the virus. Uganda has contained its outbreak, discharging its final patient and reporting no new cases in weeks. However, the situation remains severe in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, where over 2,400 cases have been reported. Meanwhile, border closures between Uganda and the DRC continue to devastate local trade, inflating food prices and threatening the livelihoods of border communities. Alyson Le Grange brings you more on this story on Firstpost Africa.
