Hegseth slams 'fat generals' during Quantico meeting with military officers
Hundreds of senior military leaders were summoned for an unusual meeting with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Virginia. Hegseth rolled out new directives about physical fitness, slamming what he said were "fat troops". He said it’s “not because we want war. No one here wants war. But it's because we love peace."
"We're training warriors, not defenders. We fight wars to win, not to defend. Defense is something you do all the time, it's inherently reactionary and can lead to overuse, overreach, and mission creep. War is something you do sparingly, on our own terms and with clear aims," Hegseth said as he spoke at Marine Corps Base Quantico.
