Der Australier Percy Grainger zählt zu den großen Komponisten des vergangenen Jahrhunderts.
LINCOLNSHIRE POSY ist eine originale Komposition für Blasorchester aus dem Jahr 1937. In sechs Satzen werden Volkslieder verarbeitet, die der Komponist auf seinen musikalischen Streifzügen durch England zwischen 1905 und 1906 aufzeichnete. Grainger legte dabei größten Wert darauf, die sechs Sätze so zu gestalten, wie er sie von den jeweiligen Sängern und Sängerinen gehört hatte - jeder Satz ist also ein individuelles musikalische Portrait.
