Sharon Battiste: Haare verloren, Stärke gefunden | Podcast Tabubruch | MDR
Sharon Battiste ist ein bekanntes TV-Gesicht, sie war Bachelorette und bei Let‘s Dance dabei. Weniger bekannt war lange, dass sie unter kreisrundem Haarausfall leidet. Bis sie im TV mit dem Tabu brach. Davor lag eine lange Leidensgeschichte. Schon im Kindesalter fing es an, dass plötzlich kahle Stellen am Kopf auftauchten. Es begann ein Ärzte-Marathon, an dessen Ende eine Diagnose stand: Alopecia areata, eine Autoimmunerkrankung, auch als kreisrunder Haarausfall bekannt. Der Grund der Erkrankung unklar, Gegenmittel Fehlanzeige.Anfangs kann Sharon den Haarausfall noch kaschieren, doch es wird immer schlimmer. Irgendwann fängt sie an, Perücke zu tragen. Denn lange denkt sie: Eine Frau ohne Haare im TV, das geht nicht! Doch das Versteckspiel kann und will sie irgendwann nicht mehr aufrecht erhalten, sie fühlt sich traurig und gebrochen. Dann der Entschluss: Ich rasiere alles ab! Es folgen Tränen, Panikattacken und danach eine Art Wiederauferstehung. Heute ist Sharon eine stolze Glatzenträgerin. Sie habe sich als Frau neu kennen und schätzen gelernt. Hier erzählt sie ihre Geschichte, die viele andere Frauen inspirieren kann.
