December 7, 1996 - One of the greatest players to never make an all-star team, Washington Bullets guard Rod Strickland finished with 15 points and 14 assists in his team's 126-118 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.Perhaps the only season of the Chris Webber Bullets/Wizards era in which most of the team remained healthy throughout the year, the 1997 Bullets could be considered underachievers, winning just 44 games despite a formidable lineup that included Strickland, Webber, all-star Juwan Howard, Calbert Cheaney, and an underutilized Ben Wallace. The Bullets reached the postseason as an eighth seed, where they were rewarded with a date with the 69-win Chicago Bulls, who summarily ended the Bullets' season in a three-game sweep.
