Die Hitze kam früh und sie deutet auf einen heißen Sommer in Europa. Landwirte beklagen die Dürre, die durch Starkregen nicht gemildert wird. Im Osten brennen Wälder, aber auch im übrigen Land ist die Brandgefahr hoch. Der Klimawandel wird konkret erfahrbar – aber auch: wie schlecht wir auf seine Auswirkungen vorbereitet sind. Wer es sich leisten kann, bestellt eine teure Klimaanlage. Aber vor allem in den Ballungsräumen fehlt es an kühlenden Grünflächen. Mietgebäude im sozialen Wohnungsbau, aber auch viele Pflegeeinrichtungen müssten mit Milliardensummen auf steigende Temperaturen umgerüstet werden. Doch gibt es den politischen Willen, in Klimaschutz und -anpassung zu investieren? Die neue Bundesregierung zeigt bisher wenig Ehrgeiz. Aber auch in Umfragen ist der Klimaschutz als Problem in den Hintergrund gerückt. Sind die Klimaziele noch zu erreichen? Welche Maßnahmen versprechen die stärkste Wirkung und sind darüber hinaus gerecht? Und wie könnten die Milliarden aus dem Sondervermögen dafür sinnvoll genutzt werden?
