En 1974, un joven científico mexicano hizo un descubrimiento que cambió la historia de la humanidad.

Mientras millones de personas usaban aerosoles, neveras y sistemas de refrigeración convencidas de que eran completamente seguros, Mario Molina descubrió que una familia de compuestos químicos aparentemente inofensivos estaba destruyendo la capa de ozono que protege la vida en la Tierra.

El problema era enorme. Y casi nadie quiso creerlo.

La industria química lo atacó, muchos científicos dudaron de sus conclusiones y durante años sus advertencias fueron ignoradas. Pero el tiempo terminó dándole la razón.

Esta es la historia de Mario Molina, el científico mexicano que ayudó a evitar una de las mayores catástrofes ambientales de la historia y cuyo trabajo llevó al histórico Protocolo de Montreal, considerado por muchos el acuerdo medioambiental más exitoso jamás firmado.

Una historia de ciencia, medio ambiente, química, política, intereses económicos y perseverancia.
