San Diego mosque shooting leaves five dead in suspected hate crime

authorities are investigating as a hate crime. Police say two teenage suspects are among the dead, with investigators believing their gunshot wounds were self-inflicted.

The attack happened at the Islamic Center of San Diego in the city’s Claremont neighborhood. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as worshippers and students inside the mosque complex were evacuated. The center also includes a school for young children, though officials say all students and teachers are safe.

Police say several people were injured and taken to hospital, while investigators work to determine the motive behind the attack. The shooting has renewed debate over gun violence, hate crimes and security at places of worship in the United States.
