Da sempre legata al tema del diritto all'abitare, Amato è considerata vicino al Sindaco di Napoli, Gaetano Manfredi, che è uno dei grandi sostenitori di Roberto Fico nella sfida a Palazzo Santa Lucia che lo vede contrapporsi al centro destra che sostiene Edmondo Cirielli.
