そんな少年の前に広がる壮大なフィヨルド。温かな食事。懸命に生きる人。無償の優しさ。
目に映る「これまで見落としていたもの」に少年は何を想う。

これは京都アニメーションスタッフの企画によって生まれ、結城弘が綴った寄り道の記憶。

オーロラの翼が示す、ほんのちょっとの遠回り。
その無駄とも思える寄り道が見せてくれる景色がある。

〈あらすじ〉
「たまには遠回りも必要なんです」

共和国首都「星の街」出身の少年・リクは、姉を自称する少女・フィーレと共に復讐の旅路を進んでいたが、思わぬ事故により、停滞を余儀なくされる。

予期せぬ足止めを食らう中、近くの農村「ヨルンヘイム」に住む少女・カリナと出会い、村への滞在を提案される。
先を急ぎたいリクだったが、フィーレとカリナによって片田舎での生活を強いられることに。
ゆっくりと進む時間の中、リクは「見落としていたもの」に触れていく。

——そして、機を見計らったかのように現れる過酷な現実を前にした時、リクは。

復讐がすべてだった。
それだけが自分に赦された道、幸福へとつながる道のはずだった。

己に課した生きる意味と、失いたくない大切な人。
どちらを取るべきか。僕は、それすらも分からない。
