On this leg of our Central Asian journey, my wonderful mom Carla Rupp and I wandered off the beaten path and stumbled upon the most charming little barbershop tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.
The owner, an incredible older gentleman, Ibua, with a warm smile and a heart full of hospitality, greeted us instantly with a level of kindness and genuine welcome that made us feel right at home.
He invited us right inside, and I settled into the chair for a truly authentic traditional grooming experience. He gave me the most classic straight razor shave you can possibly imagine, working up a rich, thick cloud of luxurious shaving foam and executing every single stroke with absolute mastery, precision, and immense care.
You could see decades of generational craftsmanship in his hands, reflecting the deep-rooted pride and dedication that define the artisans of this historic Silk Road city.
