US President Donald Trump has announced that he has been informed that the planned executions and killings in Iran have been halted. Speaking at the White House, Trump said, "the killing has stopped, that the executions have stopped". Trump said he would continue to monitor the situation closely. In the same briefing, Trump addressed the strategic importance of Greenland following a meeting between US, Danish, and Greenlandic officials. He reiterated his stance that the US "needs Greenland for national security", warning that if the United States does not establish a stronger presence, Russia and China will move to occupy the territory. Trump dismissed Denmark's ability to defend the island on its own. He emphasised that the US has the capability to protect the region where others cannot, citing recent actions in Venezuela as proof of American resolve in the hemisphere.---
