La scarcerazione, avvenuta poco prima delle 10, segna la fine di un anno, cinque mesi e 24 giorni di reclusione, su una condanna definitiva fissata in un anno e dieci mesi.
Alemanno, 68 anni, era stato condannato per traffico di influenze illecite e abuso d'ufficio, nell'ambito della maxi-inchiesta 'Mondo di Mezzo' sui rapporti tra pubblica amministrazione, imprenditoria e criminalità a Roma. Nelle fasi iniziali dell'indagine, avviata a fine 2014, era accusato anche di concorso esterno in associazione mafiosa e corruzione: l'accusa più grave fu archiviata su richiesta della procura, mentre restarono in piedi corruzione e finanziamento illecito, poi confluite nella condanna finale.
