Sie würden die Beziehungen belasten und am Ende vor allem amerikanische Verbraucher sowie die europäische, insbesondere die deutsche Wirtschaft treffen. Europa wolle besonnen reagieren, Dialog unterstützen und zugleich klare Prinzipien verteidigen: Souveränität, territoriale Integrität, ein geeintes Europa und eine starke NATO.
