Pasalnya, Iran mengancam akan menjadikan warga AS di Timur Tengah sebagai target yang sah.
Kini pemerintah AS meminta staf diplomat non esensial beserta keluarga untuk meninggalkan kawasan Timur Tengah.
Dikutip dari Tribunnews.com, perintah itu dirilis oleh Departemen Luar Negeri AS.
Dalam pernyataannya, secara resmi memerintahkan penarikan staf diplomat khususnya yang berada di wilayah Irak dan Lebanon.
Pasalnya, kekhawatiran meningkat kemungkinan intervensi dari Hizbullah di Irak dan Lebanon.
Mengingat beberapa waktu lalu, fraksi-fraksi mengancam akan menyerang kepentingan AS jika menyerang Teheran.
Langkah ini diambil sebagai tindakan pencegahan menyusul meningkatnya ketegangan antara AS dan Iran.
Pemerintah AS menyebut situasi keamanan di kawasan semakin tidak stabil, khususnya di lokasi penting AS di Timur Tengah.
Penarikan ini diperkirakan akan berdampak terhadap operasional harian di kedutaan besar dan konsulat AS.
Imbasnya beberapa layanan, seperti penerbitan visa dan bantuan warga negara, akan dibatasi.
Meski demikian, Pemerintah Amerika memastikan bahwa operasional diplomatik inti tetap berjalan.
