Demo berlangsung di Tel Aviv tepatnya di alun-alun yang kini dijuluki warga sebagai Lapangan Penyanderaan.
Menurut Forum Sandera dan Keluarga Hilang, hampir 1 juta orang ambil bagian dalam demonstrasi di berbagai wilayah.
Suasana aksi dipenuhi suara drum, teriakan slogan dan ejekan yang ditujukan kepada Perdana Menteri Benjamin Netanyahu beserta jajaran pemerintahan sayap kanannya.
Para demonstran bahkan membakar api unggun dan memblokir jalan.
Mereka memprotes dan meluapkan kekecewaan atas rencana pemerintah mencaplok Gaza seluruhnya.
Warga khawatir rencana itu bisa mempengaruhi sandera yang masih hidup.
Meski didemo, pemerintah Israel tetap menolak menyerah.
Netanyahu menegaskan, perang akan berlanjut hingga Hamas benar-benar hancur.
Menurutnya, aksi warga yang melakukan aksi demonstrasi hanya akan memperkuat posisi Hamas.
“Mereka yang hari ini menyerukan diakhirinya perang tanpa mengalahkan Hamas tidak hanya memperkeras posisi Hamas dan menunda pembebasan sandera kami, mereka juga memastikan bahwa kengerian 7 Oktober akan terulang,” kata Netanyahu dalam rapat Kabinet.
Sementara, Menteri Keuangan Bezalel Smotrich bahkan menyebut demonstrasi sebagai kampanye beracun dan berbahaya.
Seirama dengan Netanyahu, Smotrich juga menilai, aksi demonstran hanya menguntungkan Hamas dan melemahkan Israel.
