Diogo Jota, Fußballspieler des FC Liverpool, ist tot. Der 28-Jährige starb bei einem Autounfall in der spanischen Provinz Zamora. Das berichten mehrere spanische und britische Medien übereinstimmend.

Der portugiesische Nationalspieler starb am Donnerstagmorgen in der Nähe von Zamora in der nordspanischen Region Sanabria. Das berichten portugiesische Medien. Laut des Provinzialrats von Zamora kam der Wagen von der Straße ab und fing Feuer.

Der Unfall ereignete sich rund zwei Wochen nach Jotas Hochzeit. Am 22. Juni hatte der portugiesische Nationalspieler seine Frau Rute Cardoso geheiratet. Das Paar hat drei gemeinsame Kinder.

Jota saß offenbar gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder André im Auto. Der 26-Jährige ist selbst Fußballprofi und spielt beim portugiesischen Zweitligisten Penafiel.
