El Ministerio de Transporte de China anunció que impondrá una tarifa portuaria especial a los buques vinculados a Estados Unidos. El gesto se produce en respuesta a la decisión de Estados Unidos de implementar tasas adicionales a las embarcaciones chinas. La contramedida se impondrá a los barcos que sean propiedad de o sean operados por empresas, organizaciones e individuos estadounidenses. Entrará en vigor el 14 de octubre, coincidiendo con las tasas estadounidenses. El Ministerio de Transporte describió las medidas de Estados Unidos como proteccionistas y defendió que las tasas chinas son un medida legítima destinada a proteger sus intereses.
