Flying Lufthansa’s 100-Year Anniversary Flight (Berlin to Zurich on the 787)
Step back 100 years with Lufthansa as we join the airline’s big birthday celebration and recreate its first ever flight from Berlin to Zurich, flying the original routing via Leipzig-Halle, Erfurt and Stuttgart (just without stops this time). And we’re on the 787-9 in Centennial livery (D-ABPU), quite an upgrade over the original fabric-winged Fokker.This journey starts before the main event. Sophia takes us onboard the positioning flight, bringing the 787 from Frankfurt to Berlin ahead of the celebrations, and captures an amazing parallel landing with Lufthansa’s Centennial livery A350. We then depart for Zurich while the A350 leaves for Cologne on its own historic flight path.
We get to enjoy two water cannon salutes, we explore Lufthansa’s brand-new Allegris cabin, take a closer look at the special anniversary service including the snacks and treats, and go behind the scenes with insights from Lufthansa Chief Designer Ronald Wild.
