Bellavite e il dott. Serravalle, si è scatenata la polemica negli ambienti della sanità italiana. Secondo virostar, enti e federazioni varie, 2 membri su 22 avrebbero messo in pericolo la scienza con le loro posizioni. "Queste nomine - scrivono in una petizione gli esperti del Patto trasversale per la scienza - rappresentano un grave segnale di legittimazione di teorie antiscientifiche, che rischia di minare la fiducia dei cittadini nei confronti delle istituzioni sanitarie; favorire l'esitazione vaccinale già in crescita in molte fasce della popolazione". Va a finire che il ministro della Salute Orazio Schillaci cede alle pressioni e scioglie l'intera composizione del NITAG. Lo fa con un decreto-lampo.
"La tutela della salute pubblica richiede la massima attenzione e un lavoro serio, rigoroso e lontano dal clamore. Con questo spirito abbiamo sempre lavorato e continueremo ad agire nell’esclusivo interesse dei cittadini”.
Il ministero della Salute ha aggiunto: "Si ritiene necessario avviare un nuovo procedimento di nomina dei componenti del NITAG per coinvolgere tutte le categorie e gli stakeholder interessati". Una parola in particolare ha colpito l'avvocato Renate Holzeisen e il giornalista Fabio Dragoni in diretta a Un Giorno Speciale.
