All’alba della rivoluzione digitale, Francis Ford Coppola compì una scelta folle e radicale: licenziò in blocco il reparto degli effetti visivi per realizzare Dracula di Bram Stoker (1992) affidandosi solo a trucchi di scena artigianali e tecniche delle origini del cinema.Con la sua casa di produzione a un passo dalla bancarotta e l'ombra di un fallimento produttivo alla Apocalypse Now, Coppola trasformò una sfida impossibile in un capolavoro gotico da 215 milioni di dollari al botteghino e 3 premi Oscar, impreziosito dalle interpretazioni di Gary Oldman e Winona Ryder e dai leggendari costumi di Eiko Ishioka.
