In Italia più di 10mila braccianti vivono nel completo degrado dei ghetti, senza acqua, senza elettricità, in mezzo al nulla. Sono quasi migranti con i documenti in regola che raccolgono frutta e verdura sotto il ricatto dei caporali. Nel 2022 il governo Draghi ha stanziato 200 milioni del Pnrr per dare un’abitazione dignitosa a queste persone e per sottrarli allo sfruttamento del caporalato. 114 milioni erano stanziati per i comuni pugliesi, dove a Borgo Mezzanone e a Torretta Antonacci la situazione è più critica. Il governo Meloni però è rimasto immobile e ora, a meno di un anno dalla fine del Pnrr, il finanziamento rischia di andare perso.
