Cinque monoposto, ma nessun pilota alla guida. Sabato 5 settembre dalle 18.30, a Imola saranno software e intelligenza artificiale a decidere quando frenare, accelerare ed effettuare sorpassi. L’Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari ospita il debutto europeo dell’Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL), con cinque Dallara Super Formula SF23 chiamate a sfidarsi ruota a ruota oltre i 250 chilometri orari. Più che il giro veloce, il banco di prova sarà la capacità delle vetture di competere insieme mantenendo le distanze, scegliendo le traiettorie più veloci, attaccando e difendendosi senza collisioni, reagendo in pochi istanti a tutto ciò che può accadere in pista. Rispetto a Yas Marina, dove le vie di fuga sono più ampie, il circuito del Santerno riduce il margine di errore e rende immediatamente visibile anche la minima sbavatura. «Il valore aggiunto di queste monoposto per la guida autonoma sta nei tempi di risposta.
