Going down the rabbit hole | Tim Evers | TEDxSchule Schloss Salem

We’ve all been there: you pick up your phone to check the time and wake up thirty minutes later, buried in a scroll-induced trance. Tim Evers, a Music teacher at Schule Schloss Salem, deconstructs the stages of the "Rabbit Hole", applying the famous Marshmallow Experiment to our digital lives. By analyzing the stages of distraction from the perspective of a fellow user—not a lecturer—he proposes a radical solution: the power of sitting in silence to unlock the creativity and initiative that the "Algorithm" tries to steal. Tim Evers is a music teacher, house tutor, and orchestra conductor at Salem International College. When he isn't directing ensembles or mentoring students, he is a keen observer of how technology reshapes the human brain. As an educator and a smartphone user himself, he is passionate about finding "analog" pockets of silence in an increasingly loud digital world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
