Dünyanın en büyük kamerası uzayın filmini çekmeye başladı!
Şili’de 20 yıllık geliştirimin ardından Vera C. Rubin Gözlemevi’ne monte edilen 3200 megapiksellik LSST Kamerası, 23 Haziran 2025’te ilk görüntüsünü yayınladı. Simonyi Survey Telescope’un üç aynalı tasarımı ve teleskobun dakikalar yerine saniyeler içinde yön değiştirebilmesi, gökyüzünü adeta bir güvenlik kamerası gibi tarayarak 10 milyon galaksiyi tek karede yakalamasını sağlıyor. Karanlık madde ve karanlık enerji araştırmalarında çığır açması beklenen bu sistem, her gece terabaytlarca astrofotografi verisi üreterek süpernova patlamalarından Dünya’ya yakın asteroitlere kadar gökcisimlerinin parlaklık, hareket ve titreşim değişimlerini kaydediyor. Gökyüzünün tamamını üç-dört gecede bir tarayan Rubin Observatory’nin “fark görüntüleme” tekniği, iki yıl içinde beş milyon yeni asteroit keşfiyle bugüne kadar yapılan tüm çalışmaların ötesine geçecek.
