Israel claims to have killed Iran’s wartime chief of staff, Ali Shadmani—a top military aide to Khamenei—in a strike on Tehran, though Iran has not confirmed his death. The attack levelled buildings, including a state broadcaster’s offices, killing three journalists and drawing condemnation. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard vows "crushing retaliation", alleging strikes on a military intelligence centre and a Mossad base in Israel, while reports emerge of fresh explosions in Tabriz. Nuclear facilities like Natanz and Fordow have also been hit, raising contamination fears. Tehran signals openness to de-escalation only if Israel halts attacks, but ongoing strikes dim hopes for dialogue.
