در نشستی که برای رونمایی از «در معیت پرزیدنت» برگزار شد، سید عبدالجواد موسوی از تجربه سفرهای استانی روحانی گفت؛ تجربه‌ای که هفت سال در انتظار انتشار ماند. او روایتش را تلاشی برای «ثبت مسئولیت انتخاب سیاسی» توصیف کرد. محمدعلی ابطحی از توقیف سفرنامه‌های مشابه گفت و علیرضا معزی هم تأکید کرد جمعیت دوان‌دوان پشت خودرو رئیس‌جمهور نشانه اشتیاق نبود، نشانه گرفتاری مردم بود و مرتضی کاردر نوشتار کتاب را نقد کرد. این کتاب روایتی از پشت صحنه سه سفر است؛ دیده‌ها، ناگفته‌ها و فاصله میان تصویر رسمی و واقعیت میدانی.
