Lo scorso anno abbiamo fatto 15 mila figli in meno rispetto al 2024. Meno di mille figli al giorno. E un nato su otto era di cittadinanza non italiana. Nel 2008 c’erano state 576 mila nascite. Dati sconfortanti. Si potrà dire che in fondo non siamo soli. Persino in Francia e Svezia, considerati i Paesi che in Europa che fanno più figli, si registrano cali. In Italia siamo a quota 1,14, il più basso della storia. La spirale che impedisce alle famiglie giovani di pensare a fare figli la conosciamo bene. Bassi salari, in città alti affitti, ma anche una struttura del lavoro che vede ancora tassi di occupazione bassi per le donne. Congedi parentali per i maschi a livelli infimi e servizi come asili nido e assistenza in genere poco diffusi. Sulla bassa natalità si sono sentite solo tante chiacchiere e qui e là qualche bonus. Non certo la strada migliore per convincere una coppia di giovani a fidarsi del Paese, a contare su un supporto che non può e non deve essere solo quello dei nonni come è stato sinora.
