“Tidak mungkin menghilangkan Hamas sebagai sebuah ide,” kata Hanegbi.
Ia kemudian menentang klaim Perdana Menteri Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu terkait pemberantasan Hamas merupakan hasil yang layak dalam perang di Gaza.
Menurut Hanegbi, alternatif mengatasi perang Gaza adalah mengadakan kepemimpinan lokal yang bersedia hidup berdampingan dengan Israel, tanpa menyerang.
Hanegbi juga membeberkan, Tel Aviv kini sedang melakukan diskusi dengan Amerika Serikat (AS) serta beberapa negara Eropa dan Arab untuk mencari pengganti Hamas di Gaza.
Adapun, senada dengan Hanegbi, Juru bicara militer Israel, Daniel Hagari juga telah mengatakan pada (19/6) lalu, tujuan negaranya untuk memberantas Hamas tidak mungkin tercapai.
