PALU, KOMPAS.TV - Tujuh tahun pascabencana alam, pembangunan di Kota Palu gencar dilakukan.
Salah satunya pembangunan kembali Jembatan Palu IV yang dahulu menjadi ikon Kota Palu, namun hancur diterjang tsunami pada 28 September 2018 silam.
Secara fisik, Jembatan Palu IV telah selesai dibangun. Pembangunan jembatan ini merupakan bantuan rehabilitasi dan rekonstruksi pascabencana dari Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) atau Badan Kerja Sama Internasional Jepang.
Balai Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional Sulawesi Tengah telah melakukan uji beban dengan hasil baik.
Namun, untuk difungsikan secara penuh, jalan di sisi timur dan barat yang dibangun bersamaan dengan jembatan juga harus selesai.
Kepala BPJN Sulawesi Tengah, Bambang Razak, bilang masih ada beberapa tahap yang harus dilakukan sebelum seluruhnya resmi digunakan masyarakat.
Jembatan ini kembali menjadi akses penyeberangan utama antara wilayah timur dan barat Kota Palu.
Pembangunannya juga diadaptasi dengan infrastruktur di wilayah rawan bencana, mulai dari konstruksi hingga penyediaan titik kumpul dan evakuasi jika terjadi bencana, sebagai bagian dari mitigasi.
Pembangunan kembali Jembatan Palu IV juga merupakan simbol pulihnya Kota Palu pascaditerjang bencana pada 28 September 2018 silam.
