A planned campus event involving Conservative MP Garnett Genuis was prevented from going ahead after the York University student union refused to allow the use of public space on campus. Also, longtime Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland has confirmed she will vacate her seat in the House of Commons after previously indicating she would remain for several more weeks. Her departure follows the announcement that she has accepted an advisory role with the government of Ukraine, which came shortly after Canada approved additional financial assistance.
Plus, the Liberals’ gun buyback program saw another setback after a pilot phase in Nova Scotia resulted in far fewer guns being turned in than projected.
