Brinda Somaya is an Indian architect and urban conservationist. She is the founder and principal architect of Somaya and Kalappa Consultants, which she started in 1978 in Mumbai. She is highly respected for her environmentally and socially conscious designs and believes that progress and heritage need not be at odds. With a diverse work portfolio of over 200 projects, she has won several prestigious awards, including the UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation and the Wienerberger Golden Architect Award for lifetime achievement.In this video, she discusses her project of redesigning the flower sellers' shops at the Ganeshpuri temple in India, emphasizing the importance of understanding the needs of the client and end users.
