In this Global News Today interview, Eylon Levy, former international spokesperson for the Israeli government, says Israel has launched a humanitarian intervention in Syria to protect the Druze minority in Sweida.Levy explains the internal pressure coming from Israel's own Druze community, calling on the government to act. “The Druze in Israel are begging the government to save their brothers in Syria,” he says, adding that some have even compared the attacks in Sweida to the October 7th massacre.
Levy argues that abandoning Syria’s Druze would "betray the soul of Israel" and stresses that Israel has no interest in dividing or conquering Syria.
