MASP Conversas | Maya Watanabe | 24.01.2026 (Español)

La obra Bullet [Bala], actualmente en exhibición en la Sala de Video del MASP, fue realizada a través de la colaboración entre la artista Maya Watanabe y el Equipo Forense Especializado del Perú. Documenta el cráneo de un cuerpo no identificado asesinado por las Fuerzas Armadas peruanas durante el período de violencia que azotó al país entre 1980 y 2000 y que costó la vida a casi 70 mil personas. Entre los restos mortales encontrados, muchos permanecen con el estatus de “no identificado”. Al igual que un paisaje de aspecto rocoso, con cráteres de distintas dimensiones, arrecifes óseos y profundas ravinas, la parte interna del cráneo se revela a través de un pequeño orificio: el agujero de una bala.
En este MASP Conversas, la artista se une a la curadora de esta edición de la Sala de Video, Glaucea Helena de Britto, curadora asistente del MASP, para hablar sobre el proceso de investigación y realización de la obra. Se abordarán aspectos del trabajo que simbolizan la desigualdad social común a muchos países latinoamericanos, pero que también añaden nuevas capas de sentido al concepto de ecología, incluyendo desde la ecología política y la ecología social hasta enfoques decoloniales y cosmopolíticos.
