Nei prossimi dieci anni, secondo il #CNEL, il numero delle persone in età lavorativa (tra i 15 e i 74 anni) si ridurrà di circa 3 milioni, con una perdita stimata di oltre 8 milioni di lavoratori entro il 2050. La quota di persone over 65 sulla popolazione totale crescerà dal 25% al 34% nei prossimi 25 anni, il che significa che passeremo da un quarto a un terzo della popolazione composta da anziani.
Parallelamente, si prevede che la spesa pubblica per pensioni, sanità e assistenza a lungo termine aumenterà di 2 punti percentuali del PIL, passando dal 23% al 25%. Le politiche pronataliste, pur essendo una scelta condivisibile, non risolvono la crisi nel breve-medio periodo, poiché ci vorrebbero almeno due decenni affinché i nuovi nati possano entrare nel mercato del lavoro. Inoltre, essendo entrati nell'Unione Europea 25 anni fa, abbiamo di fatto distrutto una generazione.
