This video teaches you how to: split a column of values & spill results for each row and spill down the column using TEXTJOIN & TEXTSPLIT. You will learn how to create the single cell Excel Dynamic Spilled Array Formula to accomplish this goal. This video teaches you the limitations of the TEXTJOIN and TEXTSPLIT functions, but if you use them creatively together, you can overcome the dynamic spilled array formulas limitations of not being able to simultaneously spill horizontally and vertically, in the vernacular: “Spill an Array of Arrays”.
In the video, we will first, use the TEXTJOIN function to pull all the values from the column into a single cell and add a row delimiter. In this way you can then use the TEXTSPLIT function which can spill a rectangular range if there are both column and row delimiters. The limitation to this method is that the maximum number of characters allowed in a cell is 32,767. For our example this is NOT a problem. In the next video, Excel Magic Trick 1908, we will see how to create a single cell formula that can handle more than 32,767 characters by using the functions LAMBDA, REDUCE and others.
